THERAPEUTIC BODYWORK.
Massage Therapy has it's beginnings dating back many years. Today, trained, professional, massage therapists work on muscles and soft tissue to help alleviate pain, increase blood flow, speed up the healing process of injuries, as well as manage stress and anxiety. There are a wide variety of techniques and modalities used, depending on what the client needs. Some modalities we use are:
Relaxation/Swedish Massage
As the name suggests, relaxation massage aims to relax the entire body and mind. Using long gliding strokes, effleurage, petrissage, kneading, and sometimes stretching. Motions tend to go in the direction of blood flow towards the heart. Ease your mind and get lost as your tension melts away.
Deep Tissue Massage
This massage tends to be slower, as to access the deep fibers of the muscles. Deep tissue is suggested for those who have chronic pain, scar tissue, limited range of motion due to muscular tension, knots within their muscle fibers, or just desire deeper work. The massage can be as firm or as light as the client prefers. The aim is to dissolve muscle tension, not pain. Deep tissue is quit a lovely and relaxing experience when done correctly. It not only affects muscles at a deeper level, but the emotions as well.
Healing Stone Massage
Allow the tension and stress to melt away with a sacred healing stone massage. Heated basalt stones are used to massage the body and release muscle tension. It is both relaxing and effective due to the heat transfer into the muscle fibers. Heat increases oxygen release into the body, which in turn allows for greater ease in the contraction and release of muscles. This bodywork is deeply healing on a physical and emotional level.
Himalayan Salt Stone Massage
The Benefits of Himalayan salt are countless. But to name a few, it is antimicrobial, contains essential minerals (84 to be exact), helps ease skin conditions, offers light exfoliation, improves respiratory issues, is anti-inflammatory, and the list goes on! The stones are heated and massaged onto the body. This is a totally immersive and deeply relaxing treatment.
Reflexology
Reflexology is an alternative medicine application and is an ancient form of therapy. It is believed that the various reflex points in specific zones (on hands, feet, and ears) correspond to different organs and systems within the body. This therapy eases stress as well as brings homeostasis back to the body.
Joint Mobilization
Increase flexibility and range of motion with an interactive joint mobilization session. Clients are taken through a series of stretches and motions to decrease pain and increase joint mobility. Focus is on the skeletal system and joints.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is for athletes of all walks of life. Whether you are a competitive athlete, engage in strenuous workouts, or jog on the weekends, you can benefit. The focus of the massage is based on the clients needs. It emphasizes the prevention and healing of injuries, as well as helping with restricted range of motion and discomfort.
Mommy 2 Be
Pregnancy massage is for women who are with child. Massage can be very helpful to expecting mothers, as it is stress-reducing, can help ease the strain on the muscles and joints, soothe achy muscles, and reduce stress and anxiety.
